Designed by Danish artist and graphic designer Finn Sködt in 1984, Divina is one of Kvadrat’s most iconic wool upholstery textiles. The new edition brings together the most distinctive qualities of Divina, Divina MD and Divina Melange.
Clear colour intensity, nuanced depth and soft melange complexity come together in a refined, contemporary palette of 64 colours, including 17 new shades.
Finn Sködt was renowned for his exceptional ability to find and blend colours.
To him, wool behaved like oil paint: warm, tactile and rich in the way it carries colour. The updated palette
revisits his archive of artworks and pigment-based, hand-painted colour samples.
Essential Divina colours, rooted in Sködt’s graphic sensibility and love of primary tones, are balanced with new earthy, neutral and darker shades drawn from another side of his practice: his late replicas of Renaissance portraits. The result is a colour scale where vivid tones, quiet hues and melange nuances create new relationships across the palette.
The textile is first woven and then milled, a process often associated with fine tailoring, which transforms the material from coarse to a soft, uniform surface. Depending on the colourway, the textile is either piece dyed or material dyed.
Curated for both private and public spaces, Divina is a versatile monomaterial textile whose full, even surface and rich colour define the shape of upholstered furniture.

For Danish artist and graphic designer Finn Sködt, colour could never be fully contained within a system. He believed it should be experienced directly through pigment and material, rather than understood at a distance through classification. Sködt spent his career working across textiles, graphic design, painting, sculpture and colour composition from his home and workshop in Helgenæs, Denmark.
